Pockets Change
Pockets Change is a Hip Hop & Finance program for youth, working with K-12 districts, colleges, and other community organizations across the country. We are a hybid organization (s-corp and non-profit 501c3).
Our mission is to build intergenerational financial resilience with students, families, and educators. We believe financial education is about much more than numbers, it’s a means for self-care and social justice. It all happens through Hip Hop pedagogy, which focuses on understanding self-identity in relation to the whole. Together we are working to address systemic issues of educational equity and the racial wealth divide.
Get Shameless
When we are kept in the dark about our finances, we lose our autonomy and power. When we are taught that money is a taboo, we hide from ourselves and whisper about our mistakes instead of questioning why. Why are we not taught this information in schools? Why are we taught to feel ashamed and embarrassed to talk about money? Why are financial products so confusing that we often give up trying to understand? Why does it feel overwhelming to just manage our finances? Let’s change all that. Let’s take back our autonomy and power.
See Change
See Change is a radical, year long financial coaching program for creators of color who believe taking control of your finances is a revolutionary act.
It’s not about financial literacy, it’s about financial liberation:
Heal your relationship with money
Navigate a predatory financial system
Build generational wealth that’s aligned with your values
